AND

TRUTH

THROUGH

CONTRADICTIONS

For Vănguard Issue 7, we invite artists, writers, and creators to explore queerness not only as identity, but as practice—a way of sensing, relating, navigating, rethinking, and shaping our lives and what comes next.

Multiplicities

We invite submissions that delve into the

intersections and tensions of queerness, migration, Vietnamese heritage, and beyond.

Whether through personal narratives, visual art, poetry, or reflections, we hope to gather voices that hold nuance, complexity, and multiplicity.

Queerness has never fit neatly into one story

it is often shaped

by contradiction

To be queer is to navigate a life on the edge of social norms and acceptability—moments of deep connection and isolation, belonging and alienation, celebration and grief, glamour and destitution, tenderness and violence, abundance and scarcity.

These tensions aren’t problems to solve, but realities we live with. In navigating them, we learn to wield queerness as a tool to reimagine new ways to struggle, resist, love, survive, and thrive with grace.
